The Cadet Competitions are held every three to four years during a ten-day St John International Cadet Camp. The 2014 Camp brought together 450 young people and leaders from St John organisations around the globe including Canada, England, Wales, South Africa, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Solomon Islands, and Sri Lanka in an exciting action-packed program that included an international gala dinner, adventure parks, abseiling, archery, sight-seeing and international relations.

The global cadet competitions involve national teams of four competing in various emergency drills and scenarios designed to test the cadets’ clinical skills, team work, patient care, communication and problem solving skills.St John New Zealand came out on top this year and has been awarded the Commonwealth Cadet Shield.
